Halloween Member Only Mushroom Foray

$5.00
sold out

Saturday, October 31st @ 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Whooohoo! Finally some rain! By Halloween expect to see mushrooms popping up. We will be exploring the fungi and ecosystem at Circle Acres near Roy G. Guerrero Metro Park. It is also the location of the outdoor, Myco Research Station which is located in the beautiful wetland next to the Colorado River. It is super diverse because of the regenerative activities by Ecology Action and their partners.

We hope Jack-o-lanterns (Omphalotus olearius), the glow in the dark mushroom (pictured) will be making an appearance along with other Spooky Fungi. We encourage you to wear a costume, bring a UV flashlight, camera, and don't forget to mask up. This special Halloween foray will be led by Angel Schatz (@forage.atx) and Carter Humphrey of the Myco Research Station. We will collect mushrooms for an hour and then bring them back to the outdoor, Myco Research Station to identify using apps and books that will be available on sight.

We will be taking the recommended safety precautions, wearing masks, 6 ft. of distance at all times.
