Help us Keep Mycelium out of the Waste!
Want 50+ mushroom blocks for a personal or community project?
Each week, 10,000 spent mushroom blocks are ready to be rescued and transformed into healthy soil! Pick up blocks directly from mushroom farms to reduce waste, greenhouse emissions and boost soil biodiversity. Keep half for your projects and drop off the rest at a community location. Trucks can haul 150 blocks, cars around 75—just bring a tarp for the mess. Together, we can make sustainability impactful!
STEPS & REQUIREMENTS
STEP 1: PICK A FARM CLOSEST TO YOU:
BUDA at Fallen Oak Mycology: 8 a.m, - 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Schedule pick-up
NORTH AUSTIN at Hi Fi Mycology: Tuesday (10 a.m.), Thursday (11 a.m.), or Sunday (10 a.m.). You can't show up anytime because blocks are kept indoors and a staff member must be present. Schedule pick-up
SOUTH AUSTIN at Cap City Shrooms: No scheduling required. Pick up blocks anytime. They are in back of facility. Get location
ELGIN at Burgeon Mushrooms: No scheduling required. Pick up blocks anytime. They are in back of facility. Get location
STEP 2: SCHEDULE A PICK-UP FOR BUDA OR NORTH AUSTIN FARMS
You can't show up anytime to the farms in Buda and North Austin because blocks are kept indoors, gates are locked, waivers must be signed and there are limited supply and we create shifts to ensure there are blocks for everyone. If your plans change, PLEASE CANCEL. There are limited supply and shifts and when you are a NO SHOW, blocks go in the waste. 🙁
STEP 3: CONFIRM YOUR APPOINTMENT: Once you pick a date, we will text or email you a day before your shift with the address instructions, safety protocols, directions to the farm and address for drop off at a community pickup closest to you.
STEP 4: PICK-UP AT FARM: Show up on time because we space out pick-ups and try our best to make sure some are available for you. Supply is sometimes limited because mushroom farming is unpredictable. It is not possible to make special requests on a variety of mushrooms. You must take what is available. We can’t guarantee blocks will always be available.
STEP 5: DELIVERY TO COMMUNITY SITE: Block delivery means you pick-up a 50+ blocks in your own vehicle to deliver at least 25 to community pickup closest to you.
